How to create a category?

Go to Dashboard > Content Management > Forum > Categories > Add New. You can add a forum category by providing the following information:
  • Name: The name of the category.
  • Description: A short description of the category. You can use HTML in the description.
  • Parent Category: If you want to create a subcategory, select the parent category here.
  • Order: The order of the category. The category with the lowest order will be displayed first.
  • Icon/Image: You can upload an icon for the category. The icon will be displayed on the forum page.
  • Forum Permissions: You can set permissions for each role. You can set permissions for viewing the forum, creating threads, creating replies, and moderating the forum.

How to set permissions for a category?

To set permissions for a category, go to Dashboard > Content Management > Forum > Categories. Edit the category you want to set permissions for. You can set permissions for each role. Here are the permissions you can set for a category:
  • Can view forum?: If you disable this, users in this role won’t be able to view the category.
  • Can create threads?: If you disable this, users in this role won’t be able to create topics in this category.
  • Can create replies?: If you disable this, users in this role won’t be able to reply to threads in this category.
  • Can moderate forum?: If you enable this, users in this role will be able to moderate threads in this category. It means they have full control over the threads in this category.
Guests are users who are not logged in. You can set permissions for guests as well, but they can’t create threads or reply to threads. They can only view the threads. Image
